2017 – A New beginning
Happy New year!
Seems a long time ago now, however I hope you had an exciting and enjoyable festive period and are now recharged and ready to move forward. However, if you are not feeling so enthusiastic, don’t worry as this blog post will give you a head start on achieving those 2017 goals. It’s all about building momentum.
For many people, this time of year is all about new beginnings, reflection on the previous year and setting new goals. I see this time of the year as a fresh opportunity to lay the foundation for the year ahead.
This is a chance to start again, learn, grow and evolve. To do this, you need to de-clutter and create space.
Creating space in your life, means letting go of old habits and behaviour’s that do not serve you any more. It’s a bit like spring cleaning, you clear out all your old junk and this paves the way for new things to come into your life.
De-clutter everything !, hoarding junk in your house, car and garden creates a messy environment. Tidy everything up and make it your mission to get super-organised.
Decision-making is the process of making important decisions. It is important that you do make decisions on your smaller goals and larger vision for 2017. These goals often fall into these categories:
1. Physical and mental health and fitness
2. Work and financial goals
3. Family and relationships
Your Vision and Goals for 2017
It is important to get crystal clear on what you want to achieve. What is important to you? What makes you feel good ? Identifying your smaller goals and larger vision is something that only you can do.
What area of your life needs expansion? The secret in finding this is what is it that excites you the most? Creating an image in your mind holds the key to unlocking your vision for 2017. What is it that is most important to you? What are you most passionate about?
If you had succeeded in achieving all of your goals (including your larger vision) at the end of this year, how would you feel?
This great feeling will help propel you forward, when challenges come up and you need motivation.
Manifesting with momentum
When you have identified your main goals and vision for 2017, then it’s time to get started. Remember, whatever you set out to achieve, it is important to take action when you feel relaxed and at ease.
Start working on your larger goals by breaking them down into smaller mini goals. My last blog post was on how to build new habits for positive change.
Building new positive habits in order to achieve your goals, will definitely boost your results. It is a good idea to plan ahead, think about what action you can take often that will get you going in the right direction.
Start by taking little steps regularly towards your goals. The energy you put in to this will gradually build momentum. Do not become obsessed with your results or achieving your goals. Have faith that the results will come.
Always focus on the task that you are doing at this moment. Whatever you are doing, give it your full attention. The quality of your work will always be better, if you are focused and in a positive state of mind.
Mindfulness helps with training your mind to be more focused and present. I have also found more enjoyment in doing simple tasks like washing dishes and gardening as well as learning new things.
Developing this skill will enhance your ability to build momentum and achieve your goal. Think of achieving your goals/vision on a map as the treasure at the end of your journey.
Your job is to stay relaxed, build momentum and gradually move towards your goal. If you accidentally take a wrong turn, then you can figure out a way of getting back on track. With a positive mindset, it is much easier to solve problems and overcome obstacles.
